We have visited Vancouver before but I don't know what we were looking at because I don't remember seeing so many Japanese restaurants. Seattle has a similar place near University of Washington, but it is only one street and looks really beaten up. I had a list of Japanese restaurants recommended by a Flickr member, but we were with a group that provided many meals in the hotel, so we didn't have a chance to eat in the restaurants he recommended.
Instead when I walked around by myself I went to the Art Gallery (Vancouver art museum), then decided to have the green tea shaved ice that I saw in his wife's blog. It was hot, so I was going to cool off with the dessert first and have a Japanese lunch later. But I didn't get hungry until I met with my husband and daughter who came back from the zipline tour. They had bad tacos at Taco Bell, which tasted different from the ones in the US I heard, and they weren't hungry.
So we just had some pastry from Starbucks in our hotel. Seattle people going to Vancouver and eating at Starbucks is so cliche, but we had a coupon from the hotel and we wanted to use it before we left.
